Selina Zampedri takes wonderful pics during her trips on a kayak through the Venetian lagoon: she enjoys exploring salt marshes, islands and shallow waters.
Sea anemones with green or turquoise winding tentacles. Ascidias whose "eyes" seem to be painted in dazzling colours. Sabellas spallanzanii protuding from the mud with their long tentacles as orange as the sun. Small sea stars peeping out in between green, red and brown algaes.
Rhizostomae swimming through prairies of zosteras, an aquatic plant species that is an important member of the ecosystem because it helps to physically form the habitat and it plays a crucial role for many other species.

Sabión

From Selina's compact waterproof camera we got the pic of a green tough crab, who was immediately named Sabión. He became the mascot of the subscribers of international petition Stop the plan to dredge the maxi-canal Contorta, before it's too late!  which was launched on change.org by Gruppo25Aprile: more than 26,000 people from all over the world subscribed it in less than three weeks, while during the last week Selina and many other volunteers have been collecting subscriptions by several hundreds people at fixed points in Mestre and in Venice, waiting for the Regatta.

I am learning a lot about the hidden underwater habitat from the pictures that Selina Zampedri generously posts in the Facebook group she created with Stefano Barzizza, I luoghi meno noti di Venezia e della sua laguna. In two years the group members became more than 12,000: many of them post images, stories by old people, what they learn in Venice day by day, what they search in libraries or in the web. What holds the group together is the love for Venice, for the lagoon and for its people. "On the FB group wall one can read expressions of the soul of Venetian people, too often restrained by intensive tourism": quoting from the introduction to the first photo exhibition "Collettiva Venezia Viva" opening on September 11 at Festival delle Arti Giudecca - Sacca Fisola.

Sono spettacolari le immagini che Selina Zampedri ci riporta dalle sue escursioni in kayak nella laguna di Venezia, di cui ama esplorare le barene, le isole e i fondali.

La ricchezza di flora e fauna terrestri e acquatiche sono testimoniate dai colori e dalle forme che riverberano armonia e bellezza: ci dimostrano che la laguna va assolutamente tutelata.

Anemoni di mare e/o attinie dai raggi sinuosi in verde o turchese. Ascidie dagli "occhi" quasi truccati di colori smaglianti. Spirografi che emergono dal fango con lunghi palpi ramificati giallo arancio. Piccole stelle marine che fanno capolino tra le alghe verdi, rosse, brune. Rizostomee o  "polmoni di mare" che attraversano foreste di zostera, una pianta che riveste un ruolo di grande importanza nell'ecosistema lagunare perché contribuisce a formare l'habitat e perché da lei dipendono numerose specie marine che la usano come riparo, arena di caccia o per deporvi le uova.

Sabión 

È dalla macchina fotografica compatta impermeabile di Selina Zampedri che ci è arrivata l'immagine di un granchio verde agguerrito, per il quale è stato scelto il nome di Sabión. È diventato la mascotte di chi ha firmato la petizione Fermate lo scavo del maxi-canale Contorta, prima che sia troppo tardi lanciata sulla piattaforma Change.org dal Gruppo25Aprile:  oltre 26.000 firme da tutto il mondo in meno di tre settimane, mentre Selina e molti altri volontari stanno raccogliendo da giorni le firme di centinaia e centinaia di persone che si recano appositamente ai banchetti posizionati a Mestre e a Venezia, dove fervono i preparativi per la Regata Storica di domani.

Sto imparando moltissimo sulla natura nascosta sotto le acque della laguna dalle foto che Selina Zampedri spesso pubblica generosamente nel gruppo Facebook creato con Stefano Barzizza, I luoghi meno noti di Venezia e della sua laguna. In due anni il gruppo ha superato i 12.000 iscritti, molti dei quali pubblicano immagini, racconti di anziani, conoscenze acquisite sul campo, in biblioteca, o semplicemente navigando (anche) in rete. Il collante fortissimo è l'amore per Venezia, per la sua laguna e per la sua gente. "Il gruppo ha fatto emergere l'anima dei veneziani, troppo spesso repressa dal turismo intensivo di cui soffre la città lagunare"  si legge nella presentazione della mostra fotografica "Collettiva Venezia Viva" che sarà inaugurata giovedì 11 settembre al Festival delle Arti Giudecca - Sacca Fisola.

On the opening day of the 71st Venice International Film Festival, I post "Like the trees of Arda", a poem I wrote two years ago for flashmob and poetry reading "Arms up to the sky" which was organized by poet Antonella Barina at Lido di Venezia on August 5, 2012: on the wide terrace between the Casinò Palace and the golden beach, just in front of the sea, 130 people staged a protest against the cutting down of 130 gigantic cluster-trees in order to build a New Cinema Palace. After the trees were cut down in February 2009, and a huge amount of public money was spent, the plan was dropped: in the place of the cluster-trees there still is a huge "hole".

On August 5, 2012 the chorus verses were recited by dozens of people taking part in the flashmob, I recited the verses of the poem: just like in an ancient Greek tragedy.
