Diario veneziano: meeting Nancy Heckler and her beautiful mother's Fortuny dress

Venice, May 12th, 2019

Today I finally met Nancy Hecklera wonderful American friend of Venice: she is lending her beautiful mother's original "Delphos" dress (1925) by Mariano Fortuny for the exhibition "A family history" at the Palazzo in Campo San Beneto.
We had a coffee talk, also about our mothers - today it's #mothersday - and then we went together for a slow visit of Palazzo Fortuny: don't miss the two exhibitions there.
Nancy's mother was American fashion model and painter Janet Cramer who kept her "Delphos" dress folded in its original box: the perfect conditions of the dress are probably due to that box. The dress is in pleated silk, in a wonderful celadon-green colour. At Palazzo Fortuny it is exhibited on a mannequin; behind it there's a painting of Cleopatra dissolving a rare pearl in vinegar.
Thank you very much for your company, dear Nancy. I hope to see you again soon.
